Saturday, 8 April – OSOR WALK
An Easter walking weekend that starts with a light guided walk to the neighbouring island of Cres, specifically the open-air museum of Osor, once a powerful and rich trading hub whose walls still bear witness of the past we will explore further during our walk.
Sunday, 9 April – OSORŠĆICA HIKE
Osoršćica takes its place as one of the most attractive island mountains and the first to attract the attention of tourists as early as 1887, when the Austro-Hungarian heir apparent Rudolf Habsburg climbed its peak. After a rich Easter breakfast, from Rapoća Camping Village we will make our way towards the church of St Nicholas (locally called Mikula) atop Osoršćica, which offers a magnificent view of the entire Lošinj archipelago and the coast of Istria, the islands of Rab, Pag and Silba and the mountain peaks of Velebit.
Monday, 10 April – NEREZINE WALK
The third and final walking tour takes you among numerous dry stone walls and through abandoned villages at the foothill of Osoršćica. From Lopari Camping Resort we first head to Veli Tržić, an abandoned hamlet that hides the remains of ancient and medieval architecture. Not far from Veli Tržić lie the remains of Mali Tržić, the place where, as legend has it, St Gaudentius was born, known for freeing the island of Lošinj from venomous snakes. From Tržić, we descend to the hill of Halmac considered to be the oldest area of settlement of Nerezine, and further down to the centre of Nerezine, which developed into a fishing and maritime village known for its master shipbuilders who worked in timber. From Nerezine, we return along a coastal path to Lopari Camping Resort, where we come to the end of our active weekend.
